Gender Marker

A gender marker is a single capital letter that is typically found on identification cards. An "M" indicates "Male". An "F" indicates "Female". An "X" indicates that the individual does not wish to specify any particular gender, or does not fit into the categories of male or female. Changing one's gender marker is often a part of the legal transition process for many transgender people.
